I have been, since 1992 (and still am) a specialist consultant at Waikato Hospital and was Clinical Director of the ORL Department for a number of years until 1999. My clinic is fully equipped for complete assessment (including photodocumentation) of all ENT disorders including videoendoscopy (rigid and flexible,) and complex computerised assessment of the balance-disordered patient (including videonystagmography).

Grant was born and raised in the Waikato and trained in New Zealand. After fellowship training in General Surgery and Trauma Surgery Grant took a position as Conjoint Specialist General and Trauma Surgeon at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney with a lectureship in surgery at the University of New South Wales. This was followed by a sabbatical in hepatic surgery with the Liver and Transplant Unit at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
The lure of the Waikato was strong and he returned in 2006 to start up the Waikato Hospital Liver Surgical Service and the Waikato Hospital Trauma Service, of which he is Clinical Director. He has membership on wide-ranging surgical specialty groups and committees.

Naylin Appanna

I am a specialist gynaecologist in private practice in Hamilton and Tauranga. My subspecialist interests are endometriosis and minimally invasive surgery which I have been performing in New Zealand since 1996, and in England before this. I also have an interest in pelvic floor dysfunction including urinary incontinence. I also perform all general gynaecology including colposcopies. I have ultrasound facilities available at my rooms and am able to perform a scan if necessary at the time of consultation. I hold clinics in both Hamilton and Tauranga and we reserve an emergency consultation spot daily so that we are able to see an acute patient if required.

I completed my undergraduate and junior doctor training in South Africa and my general orthopaedic training in New Zealand, having worked in many centres around the country. My fellowship training in Glasgow in knee and hip surgery further enhanced my skills in this area.
I have a special interest in hip and knee surgery and in particular revision arthroplasty and sports injuries of the knee.
I am committed to providing the highest quality care for my patients in a professional but friendly way. I strive to communicate with all parties clearly and in a timely fashion to thus ensure the best possible outcome. I am more than happy to take calls regarding clinical questions as needed.

Zac Moaveni

Zachary Moaveni is a consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon at Middlemore, Kidz First, and Starship Children’s Hospitals in Auckland. Prior to his move to Auckland in 2009 he held a consultant position at Waikato Hospital. During this time he served as the Director of Plastic Surgery and Supervisor of Advanced Surgical Training in Plastic Surgery.
Zac graduated in Medicine from Otago University in 1996 with several Distinctions. He subsequently has been the recipient of a number of academic honours including the prestigious Gordon-Taylor Gold Medal awarded to the top ranking training surgeon in Australia and New Zealand.
After completing his surgical training Zac traveled overseas to Asia, North America and Europe to work alongside some of the most highly regarded and talented plastic surgeons in the world in both aesthetic & reconstructive plastic surgery. Highlights of his time abroad include the highly esteemed Cleft and Cranio-maxillofacial fellowship in Taiwan, Synthes traveling scholarship to Los Angeles and Dallas, and the Mentor aesthetic fellowship in the leading facial aesthetic practice in London.
